absolutely beyond a shadow of a doubt the most fucked up thing about japanese is that the particle which is pronounced "wa" is not written with the kana that is pronounced "wa" (わ）but is instead written with the kana that is pronounced "ha" (は)

i totally get why the particle which is pronounced "o" is written with the kana for "wo" (を) instead of the kana pronounced "o" (お) because を is used for nothing else and in a language without spaces that uses お word-initial all the time (like in 「お茶」, "tea", or 「お金」, "money") it's important to be able to tell the words apart but NEITHER わ NOR は EVER APPEAR AT THE BEGINNING OR END OF WORDS SO WHAT THE FUCK
